The Nile (In Africa)
The Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeastern Africa, generally regarded as the longest river in the world. It is 6,650 km long.
The Nile was important to the Egyptian people and to them it was a gift. This was so because it provided them with sources e.g. Food, Luxury. The Nile had three seasons:
(The food season) Akhet-Mid july to October
(The seed season) Peret-November to February
(The harvest Time) Shemu-March to June
The Nile would flood every year.Sometimes the nile would rise up to 10m in height. Sometimes they would have to use a dyke which held back waters of the river.
Flood:
* An 8m flood would produce black mud which was needed to create furtile and crop growing soils.
* A flood more than this would destroy homes/property.
* a flood below this would be to poor to produce anything.
